Motorcycle training has been in continuous operation at our San Diego County facility since 1979.
We are the oldest continuously operated motorcycle training school in the nation!
San Diego Motorcycle Training is completely independent of the motorcycle industry or government funding. This means we can provide
accurate and unbiased programs. All our funding comes from the tuition and donations of our students.
All our instructors must be educators first, then excellent motorcyclist. This is a crucial element of our instructor corps. To provide safe (what we call risk reduced)
beginner training our educators are trained to see and hear what the new rider is seeing and hearing. We don't assume any aspect of riding a motorcycle is just
"common sense". We know skills become second nature through purposeful practice, it is not natural common sense.
Our programs have been developed by
National Motorcycle Training Institute,
and are designed to reduce the unnecessary mishaps involved in learning about, and enjoying motorcycles.
Our training specifically reduces participants chances of mishaps in their beginners time (begin2ride program) and their learners time (continue2ride program). This has
been independently verified by
US Insurance Services.
Being able to rent the bike that one has learned on has been a great help in lowering the risk of the first few rides on the street. Although still risky, our students have
been well prepared to eliminate the unnecessary risks while riding.
All our curriculum is open source and free to copy and distribute. We invite you to explore our website and our motorcycle training curriculum, and
find ways that can help you increase your enjoyment and reduce your risk while on your journey.
